Some places cannot be described only in words.
They must be experienced… or contemplated with patience.

Nature and landscape photographer Gheorghe Popa has launched the album “Bison Land- A photographic journey through the wildness of Vânători-Neamț Nature Park”, a visual project that captures the beauty of one of the most spectacular natural territories in Romania.

The album brings together 103 photographs taken over several years, captured in the forests and landscapes surrounding Vânători-Neamț Nature Park, the place where the legendary European bison – the largest land mammal in Europe – once again roams freely in the wild.

The images reveal rare moments from the life of nature: bison in their natural habitat, misty mornings in ancient forests, light filtering through centuries-old trees, and the delicate geometries of the natural world.

Each photo is the result of a relationship built over time between photographer Gheorghe Popa and this place.

A visual journey into the heart of nature

The album offers a journey into a territory where nature, silence and spirituality have coexisted for centuries. It is structured into five chapters, each highlighting complementary facets of Vânători-Neamț Nature Park and reflecting the relationship between people and nature.

Within its pages, readers will discover not only spectacular landscapes but also the special atmosphere of the region – that spirit of place that makes Bison Land different from many other destinations.

Each photo depicts a moment suspended in time, patiently, sensitively captuded, and with the hones desire to pass on the subtle understanding of those revealed on photographic paper,” writes Sebastian Cătănoiu, Director of Vânători-Neamț Nature Park, in the opening text of the album.

An invitation to discover

The album “Bison Land- A photographic journey through the wildness of Vânători-Neamț Nature Park” is more than a collection of photos.

It is an invitation to discover a place where forests are still wild, bison roam freely, and the silence of nature tells stories that can only be captured through patience and attentive observation.

The album is printed as a collector’s edition, in a limited print run of 500 copies, in a Romanian-English bilingual version, and can be ordered online from the author’s website (CLICK HERE).
