And then there are Sundays you’ll remember for a long time.

The Sunday when you cycled through the forest. Listened to the stories of the people who love this land. Discovered nature at a pace that allowed you to truly experience it. Enjoyed locally prepared food and returned home with the feeling that you had lived something authentic.

That’s what Bison Bike XP is all about.

It is about the joy of discovery, about local people, nature, culture, spirituality, and time spent with purpose.

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, we invite you to join the first edition of Bison Bike XP, a new tourism product developed by the Destination Management Unit (DMU) of the Land of the Bison Ecotourism Destination, together with Romsilva – Vânători-Neamț Natural Park, Contour Bike and Vânători-Neamț Destination Management Organization (DMO).

How will the 6–7 hours unfold?

We have designed a complete experience so that you can simply enjoy every moment, without worrying about the route or the logistics.

Throughout the day you will:

🦬 cycle through the spectacular landscapes of the Land of the Bison, Neamț County’s ecotourism destination, nationally certified, the only destination in Romania included in the Top 100 Sustainable Destinations in the World, and awarded 3rd Prize for Best Promotion at the Destination of the Year Romania 2026 competition;

🌿 visit the Vânători-Neamț Natural Park Visitor Centre and the new Forest School educational trail, one of Romania’s newest nature interpretation areas;

❤️ stop at Dor de Rădăcini (Longing for Roots), where you will discover stories that reveal the identity of this remarkable place;

🍲 enjoy lunch at the Cabana Dogaru Local Gastronomic Point, featuring seasonal dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients;

⛪ visit the Theological Seminary Church at Neamț Monastery, also known as the “Voroneț of Neamț”, where Father Professor Viorel Laiu will introduce you to the history and beauty of this unique place of worship;

🌳 cycle through the habitat of the European bison and the elk, two iconic species that now roam once again in Vânători-Neamț Natural Park after an absence of nearly two centuries from Romania’s wildlife.

And who knows… perhaps you’ll even have the chance to encounter His Majesty, the European bison, roaming freely.

More than an experience. A meaningful contribution.

Participation costs:

🚴 140 RON – if you bring your own bicycle;

🚲 190 RON – if you choose a bicycle provided by Contour Bike (subject to availability).

Your contribution includes the full organisation of the experience, guided interpretation throughout the route, access to all attractions, a refreshment stop and a lunch prepared with local products.

But it also means something more.

By joining Bison Bike XP, you contribute to the development of the Land of the Bison Ecotourism Destination and support the people who give life to this micro-region, which includes the communities of Târgu Neamț, Agapia, Bălțătești, Crăcăoani and Vânători-Neamț: local entrepreneurs, local gastronomic points, guides, producers and initiatives dedicated to protecting nature and cultural heritage.

At the Land of the Bison, we believe tourism should leave something meaningful behind.

Not just beautiful photographs.

But stronger communities, respected nature and experiences that connect people with the places they visit.

Why only 18 participants?

Because authentic experiences are not meant to be lived in large crowds.

We want every participant to have the time to listen, ask questions, discover and truly enjoy every stop along the route.

Route #1: DMU Bison Land Headquarters (IGO area, Târgu Neamț) → Lunca → Nemțișor (refreshment stop at Dor de Rădăcini) → Vânători-Neamț Nature Park Visitor Centre → Forest School (short interpretive walk) → Cabana Dogaru Local Gastronomic Point (lunch) → Theological Seminary Church at Neamț Monastery → return.
