Jewish Synagogue and Cemetery

The history of the Bison Land reveals that during the interwar period, the Jewish community represented one third of the city’s population, which led to the construction of places of worship, sinagogues. The occupations of the Jews were in the field of crafts and commerce, trade in cattle or textiles. After the communist period, many Jews migrated from Târgu Neamț area.

Although over time there were 8 synagogues, at present, there is only one, called the Synagogue of the Craftsmen, located behind the Polyclinic in the city.
The large Jewish community in the area is proven by the size of the Jewish cemetery in Târgu Neamț. The rich history of the Jewish community that lived here is written on the tombstones.
